ABOUT ME
I was born in the south of Spain, in the beautiful city of Granada, where I did my undergraduate studies in Chemical Engineering (University of Granada). During that time, I worked in the Department of Inorganic Chemistry as a fellow, in the group of Prof. F. Javier López Garzón, studying carbon-based materials and their applications in environmental and sustainable chemistry. Upon receiving my Bachelor of Science, I moved to Tarragona to pursue my graduate studies (Msc and PhD) at the Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia, ICIQ. There I worked under the supervision of Prof. Antoni Llobet in the field of artificial photosynthesis, specifically in the development of molecular water oxidation catalysts based on first row transition metals. Upon graduation, I crossed the pond to do my research at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) where I am currently a Postdoctoral fellow in the group of Prof. Jonas C. Peters. My work focuses on the study of molecular catalysts for small molecule activation, specially in the field of nitrogen fixation, ammonia oxidation and concerted proton electron transfer reactivity.
